New to Church?
Welcome! Whether you've just moved to the area, or have lived here all your life, we hope our website helps you to find out everything you want to know about our Church.
Key information about the church...
Where & when does the church meet?
Our Church meets every Sunday at 10am for our Sunday Service. Aim to arrive 15 minutes early to ensure you get a parking spot and seat in time for the service to start.
We also have a service of Said Holy Communion at 8.30am every Sunday and a Book of Common Prayer Holy Communion at 9.30am every Thursday.
We meet at:
Blandford Parish Church
What should I expect when I visit the church?
If you're unsure what to expect, don't worry. We always have visitors and you won't feel out of place.
You'll be welcomed at the door and guided into the Church. You can sit where ever you like, on your own or with someone, whatever you are comfortable with. We won't leave you wondering whether to stand or sit, or what to say.
All the service information, including hymns, songs, prayers will be displayed on the big screen at the front of the church, so no need to worry about page numbers!
Children are very welcome, and we have a creative area for children during the service. We don’t mind children moving around or making some noise, it’s important that they and their adults feel comfortable and welcome.
Singing is important to us. We use songs and hymns that have been around for generations whilst also using contemporary songs and music. We have a number of different Worship Groups as well as occasionally using the organ.
We always have a reading, or two, from the Bible. We believe it's a special way that God guides us and inspires our living. There's always a talk or sermon. We try to really hard to make the bible message relevant to contemporary life, whilst remaining faithful to the Bible’s message.
We often laugh together. We sometimes pause and use silence to go deeper. We seek to balance the richness of formal prayer with an openness to the presence of God's Holy Spirit.
We share Holy Communion on the third Sunday of the month, though there is a quiet Communion service (without music) every Sunday in the Quire Stalls at 8.30am
The service usually lasts between an hour and an hour and a half and is followed by refreshments.
Is there a dress code?
No! Please just be yourself and come dressed in your 'normal' clothes.
Will I have to join in?
Not at all! You are free to simply observe or participate as much as feels comfortable for you.
